The University of Southern Denmark

A modern university that wants you to succeed

Ana Margarida Fernandes Cordeiro, 22, from Portugal

I came to Denmark and SDU in 2024 to study for my Master's degree in Data-Driven Business Development. The University of Southern Denmark is a modern university with a lot to offer.

It was easy to get started with the practical things – I got help finding a furnished student apartment at a good price, which was nice when coming from another country.

The academic environment is strong, and the teachers are both helpful and passionate. They genuinely want you to learn and understand – not just memorise.

Classes connected to strong industry ties

The teaching is very practice-oriented. We’ve had several courses in collaboration with local companies, which gives me the feeling that the programme is preparing me well for the job market. I plan to stay in Denmark after I finish my degree and start my career here.

One great example is the Business Lunch event, where students can meet companies – and sometimes even get student jobs through the connections they make. I’ve personally found a student job, which has been a great way to learn about Danish work culture and pick up the language.

A beautiful place to live and study

Vejle is a beautiful city, surrounded by forest and fjord. It's lively with shops and restaurants and it’s full of young people. Walk for 10 minutes, and you will be close to a wonderful nature spot. Everyone in Denmark speaks English, so it’s easy to get by in everyday life.

The University also supports a rich student life – even in winter! There are plenty of events and opportunities to join clubs and associations, making it easy to build a social life. The quality of life is high here, and Danes are kind and welcoming.
