When You Borrow
The University of Southern Denmark Library is a public library. You are welcome to visit our branches and use our collections.
Loan Rules (Short Version)
This is a summary of the library’s loan rules. In case of disputes, compensation cases, complaints, etc., please refer to the full version listed below.- Library Card: A Valid student or staff card are required. Cards are strictly personal, and as a borrower, you are personally responsible for borrowed materials and for returning them on time. As a student or employee Âé¶¹ÉçÇø, you are automatically registered as a library user. If you are not affiliated with SDU, you must register here.
- Loan Period: Borrow most materials for 30 days. Items marked ‘For library use only’ must stay in the library.
- Renewals: Renewals can only be made if the material is not reserved by another borrower. You can renew directly in the library .
- Recalls: Recalls are sent by email when the loan period expires. You are responsible for ensuring that the email address registered in the library system is current.
- Fees and Replacements: If you do not return your items on time, the library will charge a fee in accordance with the current rates. Damaged or lost materials must be replaced by the borrower.

Using the Library
The University Library of Southern Denmark is a public library. Its collections and other facilities are available to anyone who follows the applicable borrowing rules and respects the instructions given by library staff.
The borrowing rules on SDU’s website are always the current rules and supersede any previous versions.

Legal Basis
The library’s rules on use and fees for overdue materials are based on the following legislation (all in danish):
