Admission requirements for bachelor's studies
- Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Business and Social Sciences
You must have completed at least one year (i.e. 60 ECTS) of relevant university studies by the time of arrival Âé¶¹ÉçÇø.
- Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Health Sciences
You must have completed at least two years (i.e. 120 ECTS) of relevant university studies by the time of arrival Âé¶¹ÉçÇø.
Admission requirements for master's studies
- Faculty of Science and Faculty of Health Sciences
You must have completed at least two years (i.e. 120 ECTS) of relevant university studies by the time of arrival Âé¶¹ÉçÇø.
- Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Humanities, and Faculty of Business and Social Sciences
You must have completed at least three years (i.e. 180 ECTS) of relevant university studies by the time of arrival Âé¶¹ÉçÇø.
2. Explore your course match
Dive into SDU’s course offer to find out if you can find enough relevant courses at the faculty you are nominated for. You must indicate your course selection in your application.
Good to know before selecting courses
- Select courses from only one campus.
- A full-time semester Âé¶¹ÉçÇø corresponds to 30 ECTS.
- Check the individual course descriptions to find out if you meet potential course requirements.
- If the course offer for the coming semester is not published, you should select from the current list. The course lists may slightly differ from year to year, but they serve as a good starting point.
- You will not become automatically registered for the courses you select in your application. The course selection in your application is indicative. You will get information about the final course registration after your enrolment.
3. Prepare your application
Prepare the requested enclosures before you apply:
- Copy of your passport
.. or national ID card (only for EU/EEA and Nordic citizens).
- Transcript(s) of records of all completed university level activities.
The transcript(s) must be digitally verifiable or signed and stamped by your home university.
- Proof of sufficient English skills

Documenting Your Language Proficiency
English Language Documentation
You must document English skills compared to the Danish B2 level in English. You can document your English proficiency in one of the following ways:
- By providing a Language Requirement Form - completed, signed, and stamped by you and your home university
- TOEFL iBT or iBT Home Edition with a minimum score of 88 (maximum two years old at the time of application). We accept TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition. We do not accept MyBest scores.
- IELTS academic test with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 (maximum two years old at the time of application).
- C1 Advanced (CAE) with a minimum score of 180, C2 Proficiency (CPE) or ECPE from University of Michigan.
- By providing your secondary school leaving certificate (min. 210 hours at high school level) if you are an EU/EEA, Nordic, or Swiss citizen
Danish Language Documentation
If you apply to take courses in Danish, you must document sufficient Danish skills. Note that courses taught in Danish are subject to availability. You can document your Danish proficiency in one of the following ways:
- By providing a recommendation from a certified Danish instructor/professor declaring your ability to follow courses in Danish at university level
- By providing your secondary school leaving certificate documenting a proficiency in Norwegian/Swedish/Icelandic equivalent to Danish level A (260 hours)
- If you have a Danish leaving examination, you meet the requirement for Danish language proficiency.
4. Apply
Apply as exchange student when...
- You are nominated by your home university.
Your university and SDU have a relevant exchange agreement.
Exchange students do not pay tuition fees.
Apply as guest student when...
- You apply as a "free mover" (you are not nominated by your home university).
Your home university and SDU may not have a relevant exchange agreement, or it has been actively decided not to make use of such.
Guest students must pay the applicable tuition fees.

- EU citizens can expect a response during May (Autumn semester) or November (Spring semester).
- Non-EU citizens can expect a response during April (Autumn semester) or October (Spring semester).
