Life as a Mathematics student
As a master’s student, you’ll already be familiar with the daily life and routines of being a student, but you will still encounter new demands and new challenges.
The Mathematics programme gives you a great deal of freedom to plan your study time, but being a student is a full-time job. Even if not every hour of your weekly timetable is allocated to classes, you should expect to spend at least as many hours on self-study and preparation.
Societies and events
Students on the Mathematics programme are automatically members of the IMADA Student Council, a student association for everyone enrolled in degree programmes linked to the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
The council provides opportunities to connect across programmes, year groups and interests, helping students get to know one another and form study groups – often meeting in the common room affectionately known as “the Sauna”.

First days as a student at Mathematics
Study Start is packed with academic and social activities that equip both seasoned and new SDU students for the new challenges of the master’s programme in Mathematics. Take part in everything you can – it will give you a good foundation for student life, and the relationships you establish during Study Start will see you through the rest of your studies and perhaps also further in your career – and life.
At SDU Odense, you can also participate in the semester start party in September, which kicks off the academic year with a bang.
