Why choose Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology?

Chemical and biotechnological processes are key to many of the solutions that will shape a greener and healthier future.

As an MSc in Engineering student in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, you become part of the work of developing processes for producing sustainable materials, cleaner energy, healthier foods and new medicines.

You learn to combine knowledge of chemistry, biology and technology to create real solutions that benefit both people and the environment. The programme takes place in an international study environment. Teaching thus is in English.

Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology is for you if you…

  • wants to study in a high-level international environment
  • wants to work on projects and solve real problems while you study
  • wants strong career opportunities in Denmark and abroad

What will you learn?

On the programme, you learn to understand, design and optimise chemical and biotechnological processes – from laboratory experiments to full-scale production. You gain insight into subjects such as chemical and biochemical process technology, numerical methods, chemometrics, physical chemistry, risk assessment, economics and philosophy of science.

Along the way, you develop competences to create technical solutions, develop new products and processes, and conduct research into new technology.

You will be equipped to design chemical and biochemical processing plants, develop and validate analytical methods, and think holistically about technology, resources and the environment.

Teaching methods

Teaching is project- and research-based, and you work closely with your fellow students in groups where you plan and carry out your own projects. In your final year, you write your thesis, often in collaboration with a company or as part of a research project at the university.
