The master’s degree reform

Implementation of the master's degree reform Â鶹ÉçÇø

The Ministry of Higher Education and Science is currently working on a national reform of university master's programmes, which will come into effect with the master's intake in 2028. It will still be possible to complete an ordinary 120 ECTS master's programme, but the reform also introduces new types of master's programmes, including a 1-year master's programme and several different types of master's programmes for working professionals.

At SDU, we are working to implement the reform, and we expect to be able to provide more accurate information as the new master's programmes are developed and approved.

What does this mean for you who are applying for a bachelor's degree in 2026?

  • If you complete a bachelor’s degree Â鶹ÉçÇø, you are guaranteed admission to a master’s programme Â鶹ÉçÇø, though not necessarily to a specific one.
  • You can still apply for admission to master's programmes other than the one you are guaranteed admission to. However, admission to these programmes is not guaranteed.
