
Professor Ask Elklit wins award for impact and influence on psychotraumatological research
The organization European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) has this year awarded Professor Ask Elklit and Professor Rolf Kleber, Professor Emeritus in Psychotraumatology (Department of Psychology at Utrecht University), the Wolter de Loos Prize (2025).
This year, the organization European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) has awarded Professor Ask Elklit and Professor Rolf Kleber, Professor Emeritus in Psychotraumatology (Department of Psychology at Utrecht University), the Wolter de Loos Prize (2025). The prize is given to researchers who have made extraordinary theoretical, research, or clinical contributions to European psychotraumatological research.
The award recognizes the recipients’ influence and significance in the field of psychotraumatology. This is the first time the prize has been jointly awarded to two nominees. About the prize, Elklit said:
"Being deeply touched by Wolter de Loos’ strong dedication to European collaboration, I am happy and proud to receive the award. I want to share the recognition with my collaborators and center members who are all engaged in trauma research and how to transform this knowledge to improve intervention and treatment."(professor Ask Elklit, marts 2025, løst oversat).
Throughout his career, Ask Elklit has been a central figure in the foundation and development of Danish trauma research and practice. Additionally, Elklit has contributed to the development of ICD-11 PTSD and Complex PTSD criteria, as well as expanded research and understanding of trauma-affected children and youth. His work has helped improve support for trauma survivors and has advanced evidence-based assessment and treatment for those affected by trauma.
