Project manager for a research project on schema therapy for intractable depression.
Approximately one third of depression patients have what we might call intractable depression - particularly long-term depression that is not well treated with standard psychiatric treatment. These patients often have a history of childhood trauma, and some of their problems may be related to specific personality characteristics. We therefore want to investigate whether psychiatric patients with difficult-to-treat depression respond better to the psychotherapy form schema therapy, as it addresses childhood trauma and its consequences in depth.
Furthermore, we want to find a better way to understand and classify the degree of treatment resistance, as this could lead to better quality research and treatment in the future.
