Project Description
IEA IETS Task XVIII Subtask 4 – AI Methods in Industrial Energy Systems builds on earlier international efforts in digital twins and AI-based energy optimization. The subtask focuses on mapping and evaluating AI applications across industrial sectors, integrating AI into digital twins, and establishing standardized metrics for assessing AI-driven solutions. Beyond the technical dimension, it also investigates human, organizational, and regulatory aspects of AI adoption, ensuring that solutions align with industrial practice, workforce needs, and policy frameworks.
Key work packages include:
- WP1: Identification and evaluation of innovative AI methods for industrial energy optimization.
- WP2: Sustained integration of AI into digital twins for industrial energy systems.
- WP3: Development of innovative metrics for assessing AI in industrial energy systems.
- WP4: Techno-social aspects of AI adoption and digitalization in industry.
- WP5: Development of a strategic technology roadmap for AI in industrial energy systems.
- WP6 & WP7: Project management, dissemination, and exploration of findings across Danish and international stakeholders.
For Denmark, participation directly supports the national climate and digitalization strategy, contributing to the 70% COâ‚‚ reduction target by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050. The project will create new knowledge, tools, and best practices for Danish industries, while aligning with European and global decarbonization pathways. Results will be disseminated through industry wor
kshops, academic publications, policy briefs, and collaboration with organizations such as Energy Cluster Denmark and Green Power Denmark.
