Alle Ord Tæller

[Danish title: Alle Ord Tæller] is a collaborative project aimed at strengthening children's motivation to read and including all Danish children in a more inclusive and engaging reading environment. The project seeks to develop and test innovative methods, tools, and initiatives designed to create better conditions for meaningful reading experiences. By supporting such experiences, we aim to increase reading motivation and contribute to a stronger reading culture among children aged 1 to 14.

The project is supported by and produced in collaborationen with DR, Syddansk Universitet (SDU), , ,  and .

SDU’s Research in the Project:

At the SDU, we are committed to understanding the factors that either enhance or hinder children’s reading experiences. Our research explores a variety of reading contexts, media types, and genres, as well as children’s individual reading profiles. We examine how elements such as cognitive profiles, personal interests, and levels of motivation influence children's approach to reading. Our work is grounded in existing research within 4E cognition and neurodivergence and is inspired by the principles of Universal Design for Learning. Our aim is to promote a more nuanced understanding of reading and to ensure that reading becomes relevant and accessible for all children. We strive to develop a deeper insight into how reading supports children's learning and development. We seek to expand the understanding of reading as a diverse practice—one that takes into account children’s cognitive profiles, interests, reading identities, and motivational factors.

Our research aims to contribute both to the theoretical development of the field and to practical applications—in educational settings as well as in the home.
