Computational Condensed Matter Physics

Assistant Professor Line Jelver and Postdoc Catarina Ferreira

The Computational Condensed Matter Physics Group investigates how quantum excitations in materials emerge and interact with light, with a particular focus on two-dimensional systems. Our goal is to understand these phenomena from an atomistic perspective using ab initio modelling and large-scale numerical simulation.

We study how excitations evolve, how they couple to optical fields, and how they can be manipulated for fundamental science and emerging technologies.

Artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in our research. We both develop neural-network models tailored to materials physics and apply state-of-the-art large language models to enhance and automate workflows in ab initio simulations.
