What Can You Apply For?
In 2011, the Minister of Science established a PhD Council for awarding doctoral fellowships within educational research. Each year, approximately 10–12 fellowships are awarded. The overall aim of these PhD fellowships is to improve outcomes for all students in primary and lower secondary school, thereby enhancing their opportunities for further education and employment.

The call for applications is typically published at the end of January. Before then, it is highly recommended to begin considering your application, as preparing a strong proposal takes time.
Who Can Apply?
If you are interested in applying for a fellowship from the PhD Council, you are welcome to contact Associate Professor Jakob Bøje, who is the academic coordinator for the prequalification programme for 2024/2025. The programme is managed by the Department of Design, Media and Educational Science at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU).
To be considered, you must have completed a Master’s degree before the fellowship begins. If you have not yet completed the qualifying degree at the time of application, you must submit a copy of your diploma to the PhD Council’s secretariat in September, before the Council makes its final decisions on fellowship awards.
