What is Danmark i Bevægelse / Moving Denmark?
Danmark i Bevægelse (Moving Denmark) is a national survey of the movement habits of people in Denmark – covering leisure time, work or education, home activities, and transportation. The study doesn’t just focus on exercise or sports, but also includes activities like gardening, cleaning, walking the dog, and other forms of physical movement.
The survey consists of 98 individual studies – one in each municipality. Each municipality receives a report with its local results.
Many municipalities have used insights from Danmark i Bevægelse to improve conditions for cyclists, create more paths near lakes and the sea, and offer better opportunities for walking in green areas, among other initiatives.
Danmark i Bevægelse is conducted by the Centre for Research in Sport, Health and Civil Society at the University of Southern Denmark.
